Questions and Answers


Q - How many times can i ride the circuit?
A - As many times as you can, the early riders can sometimes get in 3 circuits, but 1 - 2 is more common.

Q - What time does it start?
A - sign in from 8:30, first riders away 9:30 onwards. Sign in all day until 2:00 pm

Q-I can't make that distance on one tank of fuel !
A- Most 2 Strokers need to refuel at halfway. Put your clearly labelled 2 Stroke (pre-mix) Fuel container on the 'Refuel trailer' located beside sign-in & it will be waiting for you at halfway. The trailers run back & forward from halfway all day. Remember to collect your container AT THE END OF THE DAY !

Q - I'm starving !
A- there is now hot food & drinks at halfway, CASH ONLY

Q - How old do you have to be?
A - No age limit, but riders under 16 must be accompanied be an adult at all times. Parts of the track are steep, others are very muddy, so riders need a dergee of compedence for this terrain.

Q - How long ya reckon this Monster trail is?
A - The main loop is 70km.

Q - What is the cost?
A - $35per bike, $25 for children under 16

Q - Can i take a passenger?
A - No pillion passngers, this includes 2 seat Cam Am quads. no exception, so don't ask.

Q - Is there a kids track?
A - We do not have/run a 'Pee Wee' circuit for the mini's. however there is a 18km circuit (shortcut home) off the main trail, that is clearly marked and is very popular for the junior riders.

Q - Can i bring my UTV ? (Argo,Gator, Mule, Ranger)
A - No sorry, to wide & far too slow, only bikes, trikes & Quads.

Q - Can i camp there ?
A - Sorry no, these are working farms. there are camps in Dargaville & Bayleys beach.

Q - What is the track like?
A - We do our best to have a nice rolling contour, but it does have some steeper parts on farm land, also some of the forestry can be slippery, especially after rain. good tires are required.

Q - Is it a race ?
A - No, please feel free to take your time & enjoy the scenery, pull off & stop as often as you like.

Q - What if i crash or brakedown?
A - We have 12 course marshals patrolling all sections on 4x4 quads in communication with base, they will tend to you and/or your bike. There is a doctor and nurse at base. If you breakdown, stay with your bike !, one will be along. We will also arrange recovery thanks to the Kauri coast 4x4 club.

Q - Can i wear my "Farm Saftey helmet?"
A - Only on 4X4 farm quads & we do not recomend them, as most are only rated for impacts up to 30km/hr. We strongly recomend fullfaced helmets & eye protection.
